What I learned from this book: I learned about stammering and what can cause it.
Description of the book: Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog-walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list – dealing with Madi’s temporary dog-sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.
Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi – how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple – he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide 24-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.
Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over, and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all – letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?
How this book made me feel: I knew Sarah Morgan is a Queen of romance, and after reading my first novel by this author, I finally know why. 🙂
The main character in this book is Harriet, the sweetest girl I could ever imagine, she is kind, extremely friendly, great cook, very loving and bubbly personality. She actually sounds too good to be believable. 😀 She can be feisty sometimes as well, and that is why I really liked Harriet. I really liked Ethan as well, he is used to the rush of a hospital and seen the lowest in people, and that made him into a “cold and senseless machine”. He has to be like that to survive in what he does. So, both of them complement each other very well and make a great team.
I really like when easy romance novels bring an issue or discuss a serious topic in the books. In this case, it would be stammering and what caused it to Harriet. I really liked that she was discussing her past and her biggest fears with the reader, it showed how strong and determined she can be. Another thing that I really liked was “Challenge Harriet”, she was trying to get outside her comfort zone every single day and that is really admirable. I think everybody should do this challenge (including myself), going outside your comfort zone helps people grow and find new things, and that is good, right? Also, the novel is written from multiple perspectives, and I loved getting insight into a character’s ways of seeing the world, it gave me so much joy. 🙂
I really liked the authors writing style, it is easy and pleasant to read, and I didn’t find it “corny”. I loved the setting of this book, busy New York mixed with the calmness of the mountains, filled with lots of snow, what else do you need for a wintery read. 🙂 I liked the length of the chapters, and I was really interested in the story, so it was a page-turner to me. The ending rounded up the story nicely and left me very satisfied. So, to conclude, it is a beautiful and heartwarming romantic story, filled with beautifully written but complex characters as well as a plot filled with challenges, interesting family relationships and cute dogs. 😀 I really loved this book, and I strongly recommend it, I hope you will enjoy as much as I did. 😀 Sarah Morgan is a Queen Of Romance for a reason. 😉
