#BookSubscriptionBoxReview January 2021 Book Hooked Box #Unboxing #Review

Hello book Dragons! Last year I decided on a quite an ambitious project – to review a different book subscription box every month. I already noticed that it requires a lot of planning in advance, because some of the boxes I found are released by monthly, and the dates when the boxes go on sale differs depending on the box. 😀 Why I didn’t post a book box review in January, you might ask. Well, the book box I planned for January came in February due to Covid-19. So, without further do, here is unboxing and review of January Book Hooked Box themed “Love Equation”.

A little about the box:

What is Book Hooked Box?
BHB is a bi-monthly book subscription box that focuses on Young Adult novels and self-care. Our boxes are made especially to create an indulgent and relaxing bookworm experience for you, whilst keeping the price low.

How often will I get a box?
Our boxes are delivered to you once every other month through subscription or single purchase (we ship them around the 15th).

How much will I pay?
Our boxes are priced at £22.50 per box. Shipping within the UK is £4 and is tracked and signed. International shipping varies per country and will be calculated at checkout. If you subscribe you will pay £22.50 plus shipping every other month. Subscriptions automatically renew on the 15th bi-monthly.

What’s in the box?
Our boxes contain a new release YA hardback book, with a signed bookplate, author letter and exclusive themed artwork. We include FIVE items on top of these. A sweet treat to eat, a 4oz themed candle, an exclusive themed bookmark, an indulgent hot drink and a bonus bookish item (bath/body/merch)! All items are created to be useful. Our box is the perfect self-care package!

When can I sign up?
Whenever a new box goes on sale we will make announcements through our website and across all of our social media (Twitter, Instagram). We also send out a bi-monthly Newsletter to reveal the next box theme. You can sign up to the Newsletter through the menu. Please note that we have a limited number of boxes each month, so we do recommend that you order sooner rather than later. Once our boxes are gone, they can’t be restocked.

Where do you ship to?
We ship within the UK, US, Canada and some EU countries. If your EU country isn’t listed at checkout please let us know and we can add it! please note: the UK is no longer within the EU customs union and your country may charge a customs fee upon receipt of the box

The bookmark has a quote from the book of the month and it was designed by Spellbound Designs.

I really like the bookmark. It is made from hard card paper and looks pretty sturdy. The design is very cute and it suits the theme of the book very well. I am a sucker for bookmarks with quotes. 😀

The candle is added every month. This month it is a 4oz candle called “First Love” and it was created by Bookworm Candles. It has a delicious fruity scent glittery appearance.

I love their candles, they always smell wonderful and look very pleasant. 🙂 I had these boxes in the past, and candles never disappointed me. 🙂

Another permanent item in this box is Vegan cookie made by Garden Cookies. This cookie has a marble icing and the design associated with the book.

These cookies look stunning and they come in a little box. However, it is my least liked item. I personally don’t like icing on my cookies and I don’t like how these taste as well. It has a very strange aftertaste. I would prefer chocolate or different type of sweets.

Hot Chocolate Stirrer is crafted in North of Wales by Pendragon Drinks. It is another staple item in this box. It is made from Belgian milk chocolate and has little marshmallows as well.

It is another item that comes every month, and I am not a very big fan of it either. I would like different drinks every month, I am more of tea and coffee person. And I like my hot chocolate rich, and this doesn’t really give me that feeling.

The bonus item this month were cotton rich socks with glitter lips from Joe Cool. They added this wearable for the first time!

One thing I always need, is funky socks. I really like these socks, and I will be wearing them on Valentine’s day. 😀 I love the colours of these socks, that is the only colour socks I wear. 😀

The book of January is “The Quantum Weirdness of the Almost-Kiss” by Amy Parks. It is a hardback YA, that comes signed and it had an author’s letter as well. I really like the book choices that Book Hooked box have, they are lesser known books but fantastic nevertheless.

The blurb of the book: Seventeen-year-old Evie Beckham has always been too occupied with her love of math and frequent battles with anxiety to want to date. Besides, she’s always found the idea of kissing to be kind of weird. But by senior year, thanks to therapy and her friends, she’s feeling braver than before. Maybe even brave enough to enter the national math and physics competition or flirt back with the new boy. Meanwhile, Evie’s best friend, Caleb Covic, has always been a little in love with her. So he’s horrified when he is forced to witness Evie’s meet-cute with the new guy. Desperate, Caleb uses an online forum to capture Evie’s interest―and it goes a little too well. Now Evie wonders how she went from avoiding romance to having to choose between two―or is it three?―boys.

So, to conclude, I really liked the book, the candle, the bookmark and the socks. I hope in the future there will be more variety with the drink and snack choices. I like that the products are sourced from small businesses, and it is a very affordable YA book subscription box. Until the next one!

Thank You for Your time! ❤
